The Vane Estate: A Quiet Infiltration, Briefly
Mairi, Perrin, and Arthur entered the Vane Estate operation with several subtle routes available. Arthur found the horses. This became important in the same way a loose siege engine becomes important.
The horses were liberated, panicked, redirected, endangered, and ultimately reduced from “stable inventory” to “evidence of horse genocide.” The surviving cavalry community has not issued a statement, mainly because Arthur appears to have eliminated the press office.
Mairi and Perrin reached the study through the balcony, found the safe, woke the mimic sleeping on it, and considered using the mimic to open doors in a room protected by acid glyphs. This plan had the rare quality of being both creative and pre-disastered.
Arthur Meets the Drow Terminator
The drow Weaponmaster arrived like someone had ordered a terminator in formalwear. He and Arthur entered a staring contest in which neither blinked, neither attacked, and both silently agreed that this was not over.
The Vane Estate deal held. The Weaponmaster withdrew from the warehouse defense package, recognized Arthur personally, and left with the calm confidence of a man scheduling violence rather than avoiding it. Arthur now has a drow-shaped calendar event marked later.
The Silk and Spice Sanctum: Pacifism Encounters a Technicality
At Allison’s sanctum, the party found the Lost Priestess, her evidence, and the cleanest route to the warehouse’s passwords, patrol timing, hierarchy, and trap bypasses.
Then hostilities started.
Phor Skn—normally the zero-damage cleric, the theological support lane, and the party member most likely to ask violence to fill out a request form—immediately activated a no-fucks-given emergency doctrine and murdered Allison. No negotiation spiral. No prolonged moral debate. Just the sudden discovery that pacifism apparently has an Allison exception.
This removed one hostile priestess and one potion supplier. It also removed the witness, the passwords, the patrol schedule, the cult hierarchy, and the clean way through the warehouse traps. The party did not lose the briefing. The party killed it.
Herbert and the Dead Woman’s Bed
With Allison dead, Herbert discovered that her bed was animated, magical, and capable of becoming a growing soulbound relic. The artifact required a bonding act.
Herbert slept in the dead woman’s bed.
Not after the investigation. Not after a respectful interval. He climbed into Allison’s bed at the active scene and slept there until the artifact accepted him. The bed now follows Herbert, protects him from falling prone, and has become the most emotionally stable relationship produced by the operation.
